Our Parent’s 40th Anniversary

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

For Kenny’s parent’s 40th wedding anniversary, the whole family, except Trina, went to Mount Scott.  We had lunch at Meer’s, saw the Holy City of the Wichitas, visited Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge Museum, traveled to the top of Mount Scott, then spend some time shopping in a nearby town.

Turns out that Oklahoma is not as flat as I was lead to believe.

An Airplane Ride with Dad

Monday, July 20th, 2009

I went flying with dad.  We flew over the Yukon area.  Saw my house, school, and my favorite store, Kolh’s.  It’s fun flying in his new plane as the windows are so much larger than his old plane and it’s easier to see out of.

Birthday Parties

Monday, June 29th, 2009

We celebrated Mom and Gina’s birthdays together.  We had chocolate cake, cup cakes, and ice cream.  I feel at home with all of the kids playing and screaming.

I was in a hurry to leave for work so I didn’t get many pictures.

Father’s Day

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

We went to mom and dad’s house on Father’s day.  Dad cooked hot dogs and hamburgers.  They are opening their pool so we helped some.

YouTube – India

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

Kenny found this video on the internet.  It is a video of the orphanage I grew up in in Kota, India.

I encourage you to watch the movie Slumdogs Millionaire.  It’s a good movie but sad because it shows the lifes of the children begging on the streets, bus stops, and at a railroad stations.  There are many kids at the orphanages that came from a begging background.  I am thankful to God for Hopegivers.  They have taken care of these kids.  They have given them food, shelter, clothing, an eduction, and the knowledge of God.

Please go and see the movie.  If it touches your heart then pray for these children.  Visit Hopegivers at hopegivers.org.  Consider supporting Hopegivers and giving these children a real future, not just the dream that they will one day appear on a game show.  You can even visit the real heros of the slums by visiting India and seeing the work that Hopegivers does.

cruise

Friday, January 16th, 2009

We took a cruise on the Norwegian SKY with my sister-in-law and husband, Becky and Jeff Karber.  It was a short cruise, just from Miami to the Bahamas, but I really enjoyed it.

It started and ended in beautiful Miami.  The cruise food was unbelievable, they had over half a dozen restaurants and buffets, even Indian food.  Every evening we’d dine in a nice restaurant, then lounge around the decks, play basketball, watch people dance and karaoke, then take a late night tip in the hottub before bed.

We spent the second day in the Bahamas.  It reminded me of India because of the small shops and the open market.  There were even animals in the street.  Beside shopping, we visited a pirate museum.

Our third day was spent on a private NCL beach.  It was so beautiful.  The water was a little cold but it was still fun.  Becky spent time trying to tan so that she’d become darker while I tried to not become darker.

We want to go on a cruise again sometime.  I think Kenny just wants to go for the food.

Visit with Dr. M.A. Thomas

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

I visited Doctor M.A. Thomas in the hospital.  He was seriously ill but by the grace of God he has started to recover.  When I entered his room  and tried to talk to him but he started to cry.   I spent a night with him in the hospital and I  spoken Hindi with him.   We were all joking and he was laughing.  Although he could not yet speak, he communicate to us with his laughter and nodding.

I would why God did this to him?  He shares the gospel with people everywhere he goes.   He has saved my lives, why did God shut his mouth?  The Bible say trust in the Lord with all our heart.  The almighty God is the Healer.  The orphans are praying and fasting for him.  I believe that God can do a miracle, but in all things we will give glory to God as it is His plan and His purpose.

Whenever I call to India everybody asks me about him and how he is doing.   Maryrose, and orphan girl, said that they missed him at Christmas this year.  Paul Soren  painted the Christmas card and all of the orphans wrote messages on it.  They sent the card with Priscilla to say how much they love and miss him and that they are praying for him.

Hopegivers has been updaing a page on his progress.  You can view it here.

A Branson Christmas

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

Our family went to Branson for Christmas this year.  We stayed in a motel that included an indoor water park for the kids.  After opening the presents, we took the kids to the water park.  It was freezing outside but it was warm inside the water park.  I enjoyed the lazy river the most.
